Clutch's Diary E5
Day 42: The Betrayal (or as I call it, The Upgrade) 1200 Hours My former squad left me behind to guard a "highly strategic choke point." It was a ditch. A muddy ditch next to a porta-potty.
They took the last of the BBs and the good snacks. The bond of brotherhood is broken. 1300 Hours I was flanked by the Red Team.
Instead of shooting me, their squad leader offered me a handful of sour gummy worms and a working walkie-talkie.
I have accepted their terms. I am now a Red Team asset.
My soul was cheap, but the candy was top-tier. 1330 Hours I stepped out of the bushes and tapped my old squad leader on the shoulder. He thought I was coming to rescue him.
The look of utter betrayal on his face when I whispered, "The Reds send their regards," and tapped him with a rubber knife was worth every second. I am a ghost. I am a mercenary.
